DIY – No Cost Play Kitchen
My kids like playing with toy kitchens, but I didn’t want to buy one paying big bucks. They usually play well with things from my kitchen and pretend play with their other toys.
Today I decided to set up a little kitchen for them in their play room. Our old media table seemed perfect to use. We first put together a list of things they wanted – counter, cooking range, sink, refrigerator, plates, cups, food etc.
I used painters tape to make the refrigerator on the wall, the cooking range, knobs of the oven underneath it, a round sink and faucet. I gave them a few pans, plates, glasses, etc that I very rarely use. For food, I gave them some corks, bottle caps and old puzzle pieces to start with. I even wrote their name on a little chalkboard. Its a good no cost alternative to play for a while.
They are loving it and have made and served us sandwiches (using puzzles and bottle caps), chai (corks filled in glasses), cookies and candies, etc.
