Yogurt Bar – A nutritious and fun snack or dessert idea

A yogurt bar seemed like a good idea for today’s afternoon snack as the weather has been hot.

I laid out two yogurt options – regular organic plain yogurt, and non-fat Greek yogurt with 1 spoon of lemon curd and the zest of 2 lemons mixed in.
There were a variety of toppings – fresh fruits: mango, grapes, strawberry, blueberry, banana and peaches; Nuts: almonds and walnuts; and as an added special for my kids a choice of gummy candy.

The kids helped in setting the buffet and were super excited!

I tried to keep it healthy and low on sugar. But there are several other topping options such as granola, mini chocolates or candies, sprinkles, cookies, shredded coconut, honey, chocolate syrup, caramel etc, for special occasions. Also, frozen yogurt could be substituted for regular yogurt, adding natural flavors such as lavender, vanilla, rose, saffron, cardamon, etc, if desired. Fruit preserves could also be mixed into plain yogurt.
