Jadoo Ka Mishran – Method 2
I’ve been making this concoction as a home remedy/relief for cough for kids and adults since the past 4-5 years. My husband referred to this as “Jaadu ka mishran” (Magic Potion) when giving to kids to get them excited, and the name has stuck.
Ingredients –
- Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Honey
- Ginger juice (Grate ginger and squeeze out the juice. Filter)
- Cloves
- Fennel seeds
- Black Peppercorn
- Cinnamon Stick
- Tulsi (holy basil) leaves
Note that I’ve added on Fenugreek Seeds, Turmeric Root and Ajwain (carom seeds) in the batches I make now.
Boil Cloves, Fennel seeds, Black Peppercorn, Cinnamon Stick and Tulsi leaves (Fenugreek Seeds, Turmeric Root and Ajwain) in a little water. Let it steep for a few minutes, longer the better. Filter the water.
Mix all the ingredients – Freshly squeezed lemon juice, Honey, Ginger juice and Cloves, Fennel seeds, Black Peppercorn, Cinnamon Stick & Tulsi Water.
Store in a jar and refrigerate. I make small batches (as shown) which usually lasts for about 1 cycle.
We give this one spoon at a time a few times a day for cough relief.
Tip: Don’t throw away the herbs and spices after filtering the water out. Steep it again in water for making masala chai!
